Regional Emergency Preparedness

Public Health Research was tasked with the coordination of the Greater Laconia/Meredith All-Hazards Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan in 2005 by the NH Department of Health and Human Services and NH Department of Safety. For more than a year, LRPPH has teamed up with officals from the Laconia/Meredith communities (Alton, Belmont, Centera Harbor, Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough and Sandwich), including town officials, selectboards, health officers, emergency management directors, fire/rescue workers, police departments, healthcare/human service providers, school systems and community members to create a plan that would best utilize our regional resources to provide for all of our residents.

The first draft of the Greater Laconia/Meredith All Hazards Plan was recently submitted to the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Safety for review. Below are some key components of this plan. However, planning will continue over the ensuing months. The goal is to minimize the impact of a large scale public health emergency on the residents of the residents, governemnt and economy of the Lakes Region and enable daily operations to resume as quickly as possible following such an emergency.
