Emergency Preparedness

Emergency Preparedness

Like many other states, New Hampshire is no stranger to Public Health Emergencies such as ice storms, tornados and severe flooding. Although most of us know the risks, research tells us that individuals and households are largely unprepared to help themselves in emergencies.

Preparing For An Emergency:
The Smart Thing To Do

Beginning in 2006, the Public Health Research (LRPPH) has been coordinating Public Health Emergency Planning and Response activities in the following municipalities: Alton, Belmont, Center Harbor, Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough and Sandwich. We partner with town officials, health officers, emergency management directors, fire/rescue workers, police, schools systems and others to: limit illness and death, preserve continuity of government/business, minimize social disruption and minimize economic loss.

LRPPH, in collaboration with NH Citizen Corps, provides FREE trainings to community members, agencies, businesses and others so that they can be better prepared.

To build our region’s capacity to respond to disasters, LRPPH’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) offer specialized training for those who are interested in serving as either CERT or MRC volunteers.
